No-nonsense GDPR for Architects
Location: 50 Bedford St, Belfast
Date: 06 March 2019
It was 2018’s Millennium Bug. The introduction of the new General Data Protection Regulations seemed to produce a cottage industry of doomsayers and fearmongers. The regulations are now in force and whilst the sky hasn’t fallen in, this is a natural time for architects (particularly in smaller practices) to learn what these changes require you and your practice to do. This expert-led two-hour session will use scenarios and will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to process personal data safely and reduce the risk of reputational damage to your practice through a data breach.
The General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) came into force on 25th May 2018. It made significant changes to data protection law in the UK to include increased rights to data subjects and more obligations on those who process personal data.
The workshop will deal with how data protection has changed and what practical steps an architect needs to take to comply with GDPR.
2. Background to GDPR
3. Key concepts, changes and scope of GDPR
4. Data subjects’ rights
5. The role of the data protection officer
7. Does it apply to architects and what do they need to be doing now
