Building reuse is at the top of the agenda in the architectural world at present. But what are some of the common challenges faced by architects when working with an older building? When are low-tech solutions the best? What is the right compromise between energy efficiency and breathability?

Marcus Patton OBE has been a committee member of the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society since 1979, and worked as a member of the RSUA Conservation Committee and the Association of Preservation Trusts. He is a past Chair of the Historic Buildings Council.
