Online CPD: Carbon Neutral Design Strategies

Available until 29th July 2021

Proposed RIBA Curriculum Topic: Sustainable architecture

The planet is warming at an alarming rate and one of the most urgent challenges facing humanity is how to limit the damage that climate change is causing.  As a substantial contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, the wider built environment sector will need to adopt lower carbon design strategies to contribute to the fight against climate change.  RSUA has organised this seminar with Professor Aoife Wiberg to share international best practice and equip architects with the knowledge they need to begin adopting lower carbon design strategies.

Course Content

This seminar will cover:

  • Carbon Neutrality in an international and national context
  • Overview of international approaches
  • Net zero greenhouse gas emission and climate neutral buildings
  • Shifting from net Zero Emission Buildings (ZEB) to net Zero Emission Neighbourhoods (ZEN) – lessons learned from Norway
  • Definitions & overview of design strategies
  • Q&A (time permitting)
