Architect led tour of St. Patrick’s Church, Donaghmore

We are delighted to offer members of the RSUA an opportunity to attend an architect led tour of St. Patrick’s Church in Donaghmore in conjunction with QMAC Construction who undertook the restoration of the building.

The 1845 Grade B+ listed church is a fine example of ecclesiastical design with a direct link to the introduction of Christianity in Ireland. The Church is now a lasting legacy for generations to come following completion of work by QMAC Construction for which the project won a national award for the tiles from Armatile and has been shortlisted for the CEF Construction Excellence Awards 2016.

The tour will be followed by dinner and a talk by Fr Michael Gilroy who will outline the intricacies of ecclesiastical design and the approach needed for a successful outcome which encompasses more than architectural style or artistic choices. Michael consulted on the restoration at St. Mel’s Cathedral in Longford with particular emphasis on the Liturgy of the project.
