It’s Not Just Retrofit

Older buildings are at risk from attempts to make them energy efficient. Everyone in the property and construction industry needs to understand that the one size fits all approach is not the answer for millions of older buildings – that are treated as if they are modern.  At this event, introduced and chaired by Professor John Edwards, Guest Editor of IHBC’s Context special edition on Green Retrofit we will expore:

  • Fundamental differences between new and older buildings
  • Comparing and contrasting energy efficiency assessment methods
  • Making existing fabric more energy efficient – without retrofit
  • A combined process of retrofit and other energy efficiency works – finding optimum solutions
  • Role of Building Regulations
  • Role of British and European Standards
  • Guidance and Tools -good and bad
  • Why dampness is one of the most important issues to understand
  • Competencies required from individuals
  • Quality of Management on site
