Local Development Plan for Belfast – Briefing and Discussion

Briefing and Discussion on Local Development Plan for Belfast

RSUA has arranged an event with Belfast City Council to ensure that architects are fully briefed on the latest stage of the Local Development Plan for Belfast. The meeting will also give members an opportunity to give feedback on the Preferred Options Paper which is out for consultation until 20th April 2017.

The event will take place at 11am on 29th March 2017 at the RSUA offices.

The local development plan will have a major impact on the future of the built environment in the city and it is important that architects play an active role in shaping it. The plan aims to identify where and how development within the Council area should take place in the years to come.

The Preferred Options Paper (POP) is intended to promote debate and is a key opportunity to influence the future plan.

Regardless of whether you can attend the briefing I would encourage anyone interested in the future development of Belfast to read the POP summary or the full POP, both of which can be found at the Council’s Preferred Options Paper webpage.

Each of the 11 local councils are progressing their local development plans at varying speeds. RSUA intends to focus its input to those plans via the RSUA Local Groups. Reports of the first meetings of the Local Groups will be issued in the coming days.

To book your place at this briefing, please contact Jeanette Hedley on If the number of people wishing to attend requires a larger space we will notify you of the venue change.
