Timber Cladding, Doors and Windows

This technical seminar is to comprise two parts, one on cladding and one on doors and windows.
The first is to cover the use of external timber cladding in buildings in terms of selection of species and their durability, design and cladding profiles, fixing, wood preservation, surface coatings and external protection.
The second on doors and windows is to cover correct detailing, species, durability, insulation values and air tightness of doors and windows; these aspects of doors and windows will also be discussed in the context of the Building Regulations.

Paul Harvey B.Agr.Sc (Forestry M.Sc (Environment Protection) AIWSc is currently Business Manager (Ireland) for Arch Timber Protection and is also Chairman of Wood Marketing Federation. He was a member of the Wood Marketing Federation Woodcare committee which drafted the new cladding guidance document ‘The Use of External Timber Cladding in Buildings’.
Pat McCarthy B.A. Hons Materials Technology is responsible for the development and management of the industrial exterior coatings market in Ireland for Akzo Nobel and is passionate about developing sustainable answers for his customers from its portfolio.
Kevin Underwood BSc. AMIMechE. Is technical Manager at the British Woodworking Federation. He has worked on BSI (UK) standards committees for the previous 6 years primarily involved in the development of standards for doors and windows.
