Lynda Addison OBE FCIHT Chair of CIHT’s Sustainable Transport Panel
This new advice, led by CIHT in collaboration with TPS and RTPI, is the result of a great deal of work by professionals interested in creating better places by better integrating planning and transport. It focuses on the critical practical steps that can be taken by planning professionals, developers, advisers, and local councils to overcome these barriers, from developing a strategic or Local Plan to delivering a development.
Lynda Addison OBE BSc Dip TP FCIHT MTPS is Chair of the Sustainable Transport Panel of CIHT, immediate former Chair of the Transport Planning Society and an Adviser to The Campaign for Better Transport. She is a member of the Foundation for Integrated Transport’s Steering Group on Transport and New Development. Lynda also works as a Built Environment Expert for the Design Council and is Chair of the Brent Review Panel and Vice Chair of the Highways England Panel.
Lynda also chairs the Board of Trustees of a small education charity, The Raheli Trust, working in Tanzania. She was previously an English Heritage Commissioner, chairing the London Advisory Committee and Vice Chair of the National Advisory Committee, a Visiting Professor in Planning at the University of Westminster, a Trustee of Living Streets and of the TCPA.
She received her OBE for services to planning in 2006 and was awarded the RTPI/TPS Transport Planning Network award in 2010. In June 2019 she received the award of Transportation Professional of the Year from CIHT. Lynda is a planner and transport planner by profession and was founder director of Addison & Associates, an award-winning consultancy, from 1996 until October 2011 having previously been Director of Planning and Transport in the London Borough of Hounslow.
The Transport Planning Society (TPS) was established in 1997 to promote and represent the interests of transport planners throughout the UK www.tps.org.uk. The Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) represents and qualifies professionals who plan, design, build, manage, maintain and operate transport and infrastructure www.ciht.org.uk.
The timetable for the evening is:
• 5.30 – 6.00pm: light refreshments
• 6.00 – 7.30pm: Presentation by Lynda followed by questions and panel discussion with representatives from the Department for Infrastructure, Translink and Belfast City Council.
