The RSUA Brexit Task Group met online on Monday 29 June 2020. The Group is chaired by RSUA Director Ciarán Fox and was attended by members with a particular interest in the issues presented by Brexit.
At this meeting it was agreed that RSUA would contact RIBA to make sure that work carried out by the RIBA Brexit Group ties in with Northern Ireland and suggest to RIBA that they combine work across all professional services. RSUA undertook to explore potential frictions that may be encountered by practices in Northern Ireland when working in the Republic of Ireland, taking into consideration both smaller works and larger projects.
RSUA agreed to set up a meeting with colleagues from DfE for an update since the last meeting and to discuss the potential creation of a local professional services forum. RSUA will also contact the university representatives on RSUA Council to enquire about likely impacts on students from a no-deal Brexit.
