RSUA members are invited to stand for election to RSUA Council. Each year, 7 of the 21 Council seats come up for election. The Council is the Board of Directors/Trustees for RSUA and is the ultimate decision-making body. We are seeking nominations from architects in all walks of life to reflect the diversity of our membership. We particularly encourage nominations from women and architects based outside greater Belfast.
Who can stand for election to RSUA Council?
Any chartered member can nominate themselves or any other chartered member. The current President, Donal MacRandal, the Immediate Past President, Joan McCoy and the President-Elect (to be confirmed) do not have to stand for election.
If you put your name forward for election to RSUA Council in 2021 and you are successfully elected, you will serve a three-year term on Council from May 2021 until May 2024. If circumstances require, Council members can resign at any point during their three-year term.
What is the timeframe?
Nominations are to be completed by no later than 5pm on Friday 23 April 2021. Applicants are invited to supply a voluntary statement of no more than 50 words which will be published with the voting papers should an election be required.
Will there be an election?
Only if more than 7 nominations are received.
What are the procedures for the election?
If more than 7 nominations are received, voting papers will be issued to all chartered members. The attendance record of current Council members standing for re-election will be published on the voting papers. The deadline for the return of ballot papers will be Friday 21 May 2021 and the result will be announced at the AGM on Friday 28 May 2021.
