2019 theme

Local distinctiveness

Wednesday 27th March, 9.45am – 3.30pm

Court House, Hillsborough Castle

MAG are delighted to invite you to the Annual MAG Symposium, which this year is entitled Local Distinctiveness in Making Great Places.

Speakers include:

  • Yolanda Barnes, Chair, Bartlett Real Estate Institute, UCL, London
  • Lee Mallett, Director, Urbik
  • Emma Cariaga, Head of Operations Canada Water, British Land
  • Maurice Carlin, Co-founder and Artist, Islington Mill Art Academy
  • Joni Baboci, General Director of Urban Planning and Development in the City of Tirana, Albania

This free event will take place in the Market Room, Court House, Hillsborough Castle, from 9.45am. Lunch will be provided, again free of charge.

After proceedings have concluded at 3.30pm, attendees will be granted exclusive access to the State Rooms of the Castle itself, with an opportunity to learn about its history, and the recent restoration work. This Historic Royal Palace is itself a great example of local distinctiveness, sitting as it does in the heart of a small Northern Ireland town. It is also not yet fully open to the general public, so this event represents an exclusive opportunity to get a taste of what’s to come.

Due to the nature of the venue, this event is limited to a maximum of 100 places, so we invite you to register as soon as possible. To reserve your place, and to get more information about the speakers and running order, please go to Eventbrite here and click the “Register” button. (If you wish to avail of the Castle tour, please email us after registering to let us know.)
