RIBA National Award and House of the Year listing for McGonigle McGrath

House at Lough Beg by McGonigle McGrath, which was announced as an RSUA Design Award winner earlier in the year, has now been named as one of twenty-nine national award winners by The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and has made the longlist for the UK’s House of the Year 2022.

The house which was designed for private clients is located in Bellaghy. As well as collecting an RSUA Design Award and the accolade of Northern Ireland’s House of the Year in May the owners, who managed much of the fifteen-year self build process themselves, picked up the award for Client of the Year.

McGonigle McGrath was previously given a RIBA National Award in 2019 and went on to be crowned RIBA UK House of the Year. House at Lough Beg has now been announced as part of the longlist for that same title.

Commenting on the RIBA National Award winning project, RSUA Director CiarĂ¡n Fox said “it is wonderful to see a Northern Irish practice be rewarded for the fantastic work being produced. House at Lough Beg sits sensitively within the local landscape. This project demonstrates clearly the value that architects bring to building projects large and small.”
