NI Construction Output currently at a 10-year high

The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency compiles a quarterly bulletin on construction output. Its most recent report covers the fourth quarter period of October – December 2020 and notes an increase in construction output of 14.9%, which follows a third quarter increase of 37.5%. The second quarter of 2020 showed, unsurprisingly, a decrease. This indicates that a V-shaped recovery occurred at the end of 2020.

The increase in overall output in Quarter 4 2020 from the previous quarter was driven by increases in New Work (+15.8%) and Repair and Maintenance (+15.6%).

The next Northern Ireland Construction Bulletin will be published on 8 July 2021 and will cover the period of 1 January to 31 March 2021.
