On Friday 16 April, RSUA met with representatives of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to discuss retrofit. With wider government targets on decarbonisation presaging substantial investment in retrofit, architects will have a role to play in ensuring the sustainability of the built and natural environment.
RSUA and NIHE discussed the challenges of procurement in general and ensuring fee bids were sufficient to enable high quality work to be delivered. The meeting also considered various ways in which architects may be able to demonstrate their competence in retrofit.
RSUA also intends to schedule an event over the coming months with members to discuss NIHE future plans.
